Pictures say a thousand words

It's been a little while since I last blogged. A few things have happened. I guess it's best to speak with pictures. Afterall, it's worth a thousand words. I've been doing that lately on my instagram

Our nation is celebration it's 50th anniversary and each household received free gift packs!

I was very excited about the paper balls in the gift packs. So excited, that they lasted all of 2 minutes.

I started reading a new book entitled 'Go Set a Watchman' by Harper Lee

We discovered a wonderful vintage restaurant that is dog friendly

Morning beach runs (no pun intended)

Another wonderful morning. We went to the beach, swam in the sea and fetched toys. I met lots of dogs there. There were people canoeing and paddle boarding. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. That's what I love about the beach. Unfortunately, I got watery diarrhea from drinking all that sea water... no wonder they call it the morning runs.

Jumping and chasing this morning

Love going to the parks. We take every opportunity to practice my agility skills. Anything that can be jumped over or through is fair game. What's more? I chased my first squirrel in months! I almost gave up the hopes of seeing another squirrel. Chasing squirrels was one of my favorite past time in Michigan. There they were abundant in spring and summer. Here they are few and far between. So you can image the excitement when I saw one. That made my day.

Interacting with new doggy friends.

We met new friends at the park last weekend. There was an adorable 4mth beagle puppy. I forgot how in-your-face I used to be as a puppy. She kept trying to jump in my face and nip my heels. But she's only a pup, so I tolerated it well. We also met a schnuzer that was nervous dominent. He wanted to boss me around but seemed nervous. He didn't want me near his parents that is for sure. Mom made me sit-stay when he got confrontational so as not to excite him further.
In any case I got to burn off some energy with frisbees! Oh, and I got  a part time job as a rickshaw driver.

Campaigning for causes

While mom has been on studying break, I had more free time on my hands. I am working on some campaigns.
One called #showmeyourflats. Making a point saying women should be able to wear what they can. Apparently Cannes film festival organisers denied women in flats from being part of the event.
The other #fishlove. About the plight of overfishing and irresponsible fishing harming out marine system.
What do you think of these campaigns? Any new ideas for me?

Loves rawhide, visiting new places and agility!

Finally got my teeth on a rawhide today. I used to get rawhides every few days in the States. For some reason, this had stopped since I came to Singapore. I am so happy to sink my teeth into to. Got to work it from the corners.

We also got our car new tires. The car repair shop is a strange place. Lots of worrisome loud noises. We took a short walk while they changed the wheels. Overall, I am glad mom brought me along.

We also got back into agility classes. I got my old job back!

A friend is someone you enjoy spending time with

I made a new jogging friend. A 2 year old Malamute named Toby. We had a good run at Punggol Settlement, though we both wished the climate would be cooler (like winter in Michigan). I saw a few stray dogs. Dad kept me on a short leash when they were around. Since my pack that day consistent of 4 humans (one of whom was on a bicycle) and 2 medium-large dogs the stays kept their distance. I caution all fur friends who frequent there to keep your nose sniffing and eyes peeled.

Cooling down after the run
 All tongues out
Toby doesn't tolerate the heat well
Gearing up the night before

I had to board with mom's Aunt for a few days while they took a beach holiday (not fair!). In return, we are hosting Silkie, an older Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for a couple of weeks while her parents tour Japan (not fair!). Silkie is in her golden years and does not make a good rough and tumble buddy. Mom says I am being a good boy respecting her space.

 A little awkward at first
We soon become great sleeping buddies

A few other random things at work. I had to comfort Loumi, my greyhound friend at work, who has thunderstorm phobia. I was made to sit beside her during one of the storms. Honestly, I don't think it helped.

I got to meet Lisa (soon to have her name changed) an adopted Maltese who was sterilized. She had the cone of shame on. May as well, I've learnt that she doesn't like to say hello face-on. Small dogs have the largest attitude sometimes.

Long Walks

It's been a good two weekends. Doggy dates, long walks and being outside. Today we went to the 'green corridor'. A long stretch of greenery which used to be an old train track. There was quite a crowd. Loumi (greyhound) got quite tired on the walk, but she made it to the end. I didn't like the way some people stared at her. Was it because she had 3 legs or because she was so tired she had to lie down? Whatever the case, it is rude to stare.

Last week, we went for another long walk with Cooper (Schnauzer X)  at Punggol. Sunny days really drains our energy. It's hard when all we can do is pant. Wished we could jump in the water. We got to cool down at a pet cafe. There was a strong urine smell that even the humans noticed. The place is very... shall we say, pink. Makes for an interesting picture. But I don't think it is quite my color.

It seems to me I get a bath after these long walks. I hate baths. Especially the part where my ears get cleaned. :(

Exploring the West Coast

Last weekend I explored a new park at the west of the country. It was near the sea. So near I could almost run into the waters. But mom yelled and stopped me. :( I miss running into lakewater in Michigan. We had a long walk and met a group of dogs (mostly border collies) at an agility competition. It was a good walk, but it got hot in the afternoon. So hot even my ears were flushed. I drank lots of water.

My first Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is coming to an end. We went house visiting during the first few days. I met lots of new people. There were exchanges of red packets, which made the children happy. I wonder if there's a treat inside. During the reunion dinner, they had hot pot. The smell of boiling beef, prawn, scallop and fish are irresistible. I got to taste Kueh Bungkit (coconut milk biscuit) and mandarin oranges. Yum! House visiting is apparently quite a tradition. Some friends came over to our place. Unfortunately, I was left behind some of the times when my parents went house visiting. We decorated our walls with red stickers containing auspicious sayings. Mom kept making me pose a certain way for pictures as you can see below. I resembles the Maneki-Neko. Welcoming good fortunes for the new year.

Part time barista

I've acquired a part time job of my own as a barista. This ascaso machine makes decent espresso. Though acquiring the right amount of microfoam takes quite a bit of skills. Alright... it wasn't me making the coffee. But i smell it daily. I don't quite like the smell, was never tempted to try it.

I recently found the microwave at work! That's a yummy making machine. I figured if I sit pretty enough, they may give me a treat.

Lots of love from everyone

2015 is not starting out on the right foot for us. Soon after I got better from my ordeal, Mom had to be hospitalized for a couple of days. I was left to board at the clinic. I missed my pack. Thankfully there was plenty of love from the staff. We even got to play frisbee! I didn't eat my dry food very well, because I was worried for mom. But the opportunity to beg for table scrapes was too good to miss. You cannot imagine the relief I felt seeing mom and dad again. Dad got me a durian to play with. I spent the whole time figuring out how to get to the goodies inside. He finally cracked it and I got a taste. We'll be home the next few days while mom recuperates. Guess what? We have guests!

Please please please throw it!

What's that?
